Basically what other posters are saying. I went back and forth between the 30-06,.303 British (my favorites) 7x57 mm, 6.5mm Swedish and the .270. It's my understanding that the .270 is more common internationally plus it isn't a military caliber. Which is illegal in many countries. So there it is.
The .416 is as high as I care to go on the recoil scale and it's fairly common in this day and age. I've heard too many bad things about the .458 Winchester. My two cents.
