Hilarious (Remington's 2007 Catalog)

On page 12 of Remington's new 2007 catalog (http://www.remington.com/pdfs/07catalog-ammo.pdf ) shows the hunter using a Winchester M70 rifle instead of a Remington. I guess, if I were Remington, I would try to feature my own products in my marketing catalogs...

If that doesn't get you a laugh, check out the page on the Buck-hammer shotgun slug:

"Weight retention at impact is consistently 100%".

Gee, I gotta get me some a'those!

Makes you wonder who Remington has working for them in their marketing department, doesn't it?

Re: Hilarious (Remington's 2007 Catalog)

When that was posted on AR a few people queried if it was the M70.

But it definitely is the M70. I blew it up 200% and just the tang gives it away.

The following would be understandable:

1) Remington would have pictures of someone shooting an M70 and they might even be extracted from Winchester material.

2) The picture of the M70 could go in the catologue by mistake.

BUT, you would expect someone to notice the mistake when they read the catolgue. One would assume the catologue is read by Remington before releasde and therefore the people or person who checks knows nothing about guns.

Their rifle catologue is OK.

However, from the ammo catologue and on the 300 RUM

"Simply the biggest, baddest, flattest-shooting 30 caliber
in production today.
At 200 yards, it delivers 485 ft.-lbs.
more energy than the 300 Wby Mag and 28% more
energy than the 300 Win Mag or 300 WSM."

Last time I looked 30/378 ammo was still being produced

Remington has continued on a down hill slide ever since the dropped production of the Hepburn!

I'm sure Ruger enjoys the idea that someday Remington won't be around just like Winchester.I've never owned a Rem. never will.Dave

With my reloads I get with my 300 RUM shooting a 180gr Nosler Partition bullet at 1000yds 893.6 Ft Lbs and velocity is 1495.4 fps. I don't shoot bought ammo.

Maybe the marketing guys were trying to send a message to management.

One of the best things Remington could ever have done would have been to pick up production of the Winchester M70 when Winchester dropped it ...

Re: Hilarious (Remington's 2007 Catalog)

Shouldn't this be in the humour and fun section...

Reminds me of my company's environmental project where the WWF people told about a company with whom they were working, said company being in the defence industry.
The company had created new lead-free bullets and the advertising campaign proclaimed: "Lead in bullets can seriously harm the environment - and you!"
I bet...

Re: Hilarious (Remington's 2007 Catalog)

FYI--the guy hired for that job actually is a friend of mine who was hired to do all the photo lay outs for the 2007 catalog--I actually noticed it last spring and called him--he said "Yes, the boys at Remington were not to excited when they notice that photo as well".. Apparently when the photos were being catalogued, this one was inadvertantly submitted and it was not caught all the way to the presses.. ooopppsss....
