Rebarrel a Win 70 to .300 H+H

I have a Win Classic SS in .338 that came new with a horrible barrel.Tooling marks and part of one land darn near missing.Chatter marks full length. Is the action long enough to simply rebarrel to .300 H+H or does it need to be altered? Don't want a .300 Win Mag and have a .308 NM.......Harold

If you can get the 338 barrel out, and send it to me I could make what you
need and send it back to you so it could just be screwed in.
I could copy all dimensions from the old one, including headspace.

mbogo,
i've owned two of those rifles (90's manufacture)and neither one ever shot worth a damn. recrowned, restocked and bedded, nothing helped.
it's my belief the 26" light contour barrels were insufficient weight for the caliber. barrel whip?
my M70 in 270Win has the same barrel contour.
i would rebarrel in 338WM, maybe 24", since you all ready have a fast 30.
