Back to the Gir lions, there always seems to be bad news about them.

One of the articles I posted in the last few years was a proposed Indian wildlife plan to replace all zoo lions in India which have become seriously inbred, sickly and dying with "fresh" stock from the wild Gir population.

How on the earth that was going to help the population survive I don't know.

I don't know how the Gir forest is situated and how much human encroachment is permitted, also if it has villages or roads within it, but ideally the park should be fenced off if possible. But the dollars required ....
