Nick, The problem used to be of a totally different kind. A friend was in Northern Burma and had a battle going on on the opposite hill between Government and Rebel forces. As you would be aware Northern Burma was the location of some 16 or more rebel armies and warlords. However it seems that the fighting and strife has reduced in recent years, unless I am wrong. Sometimes strife, while a break down in law and order, also stiffles development and allows nature to persevere a bit longer. Thailand for example seems almost completely denunded of wildlife at least the parts and areas I saw. Probably deer and other species lurking in the forests and mountains still in small numbers. |
