It is true that many people are wounded by leopards but they
are not eaten ( not man eaters). The leopard has survived because ( quoting Corbett) ' it never loses its fear of humans'
Also, the leopard is adapt to any terrain and an expert in improvising any shelter as its home.

Even In the city of Bombay ( now Mumbai) there have been quite a few instances leopards surfacing on the outskirts of Powai and attacking residents of apartment complexes.

About a week back, a bear killed a villager in AP. The DFO rushed with two assistants and was promptly killed. Subsequently it was shot by Police.

In my state, it is quite common to read of leopard attacks in the
cities or nearby.
