Re: The Lonely Tiger

Hello Nick,

Welcome and thanks for posting here. Your always welcome posts are the closest that most would probably get to hunting in India - I was lucky to get a little of the dregs of it, and, perhaps, luckier to meet and get to know many hunters who had hunted in the pre independence era. Some like Pius Rodrigo, Rusi Jijina, Appa Rao etc are still as sprightly as they were when they hunted in the old days. Many like Don Mascarenhas, Captain Ezekiel, Mark Burns etc are, sadly, no more. Mr Rodrigo was the one who taught me to shoot - a previlege for which I shall be grateful to him until my last breath. These are people who did not write books but who were keen hunters and who still have a deep interest in India's wildlife and environment, or, more precisely, what is left of it.

All our old clubs in India are what they are because of people like them. And when their generation is gone, a glorious chapter of Indian history would end. Thank you very much for your hard work in finding these old gems to show the world what life in India was like, not all that long ago.
