Years ago I read of a similar project to clone quaggas in RSA.

Maybe that one died off with the changes, lack of funding or some thing in '94, not sure. Or maybe it's still going on?

I'd rather see quaggas than mammoths. W/ mammoths would, naturally, come the "need" to clone sabertoothed tigers and other Superpredators, no doubt.

Having said that, the desire to clone mammoths may be the first inkling that the scientific community is ready to give up on "Global Warming"!
