Daryl, We had an earlier thread on the Asiatic Wild Buffalo compared to the ferral water buffalo. The Wild Buffalo is a very big animal - the record body size of a bull was 6 foot 6 inch at the shoulders & probably weighed over 2700 lbs. Average bulls are over 5' 10" at the shoulders & close to 2000 lbs. The Gaur would come pretty close in height & weight. The feral water buffalo is smaller.

Regarding the head, I recon that the relative ratio of the African buffalo is larger compared to the body. In actual size - it would be interesting to know the details from those who have seen both at close quarters.
