Large crocs must be brain-shot, or will be immediately lost in the adjacent deep water.

I'd probably recommend a tough premium soft-point from an accurate rifle like a .308, up to .375 I guess but the extra power would not be needed.

Many thousands were shot with ex-mil .303 ball ammunition during the skin days, but ammo availability in remote areas probably drove that choice at the time.
