My father in law who is aKiwi hunter and conservationist sent me his response to the survey:- "there is not a problem between hunter & conservationist.a lot of hunters are conservationists.the problem is with certain people farming & releasing pig & deer for commercial hunting.just recently some one carted 200 fellow deer into the Moeroa area(back of Eltham) & released them.Doc ( dept. concervation) heard about it & went in with a chopper & ground parties to cull them out.the big concern is about T.B.an out break of T.B.would be disasterous for farming in N.Z. one of two bush blocks we look after a 260 hectare & is a QE11 trust covenant.these covenants are given by the owners to the crown so they may be protected even if the property is sold.bush, wetlands, estuary, what ever.will send you info to give you better idea " Regards Bob W. |
