Re: Game Council NSW - including hunting on public land

DECLARED CONSERVATION HUNTING AREAS IN NSW: State forests

There are 180 State forests declared for conservation hunting in NSW. These areas can only be accessed by conservation hunters with the following:

* Hold a current Restricted NSW Game Hunting Licence (R-Licence), issued by Game Council NSW, and
* Have written permission (obtained through an online / telephone booking system)

PLEASE NOTE that due to significant fire control activities in the west and south of the State, Section 44 Emergency Declarations may apply to some declared State forests during the summer months. This means written permission will not be issued to licensees until further notice. Click here for further information.

TEMPORARY CLOSURES- Aerial Baiting

There may be temporary closures of many declared State forests during the period May 2007 through to July 2007. This is to allow Forests NSW and Rural Lands Protection Boards undertake important wild dog aerial baiting programs.

Licensed hunters who have booked in advance must check with Game Council NSW to ensure that the forest is still open for hunting during their written permission period.

Licensed hunters can also refer to the ‘special note’ column in each of the below regional areas to view temporary closure dates of State forests.
