Re: To coin the phrase - the Big XXX of Australia

Quote:

If you wanted to name the Big Five (or whatever number) for Australia which animals would you choose?

I have my thoughts on the matter. Few are truly dangerous, but their size, and in some cases difficulty to hunt amd even rarity as a hunting beast in the world might get them included.

My thoughts:

1. Water Buffalo;
2. Banteng;
3. Scrub Bull;
4. Camel;
5. Sambar Stag.

What about saltwater crocodile though?

From a game animal and trophy point of view, I would leave the camel out, and replace it with a wild boar!

1.Sambar stag
2. Banteng
3.scrub bull
4. water buff
5. wild boar.

Remember, my point of view is about a respectable trophy of each species, and although the wild boar is nowhere near as big as a camel, it can be dangerous (although rarely is here in Australia)and it has trophy tusks. What trophy features does a camel have? Its hump?
I know there is many other deer trophy's that could also get a mention, but i believe these can be easier to hunt (during the rut ect,) than a trophy wild boar. salt water croc is not realy in the legal game status to realy be considered IMO.

Just my opinion.
