There is no exception allowed for additional sporting equipment currently. I just booked a flight from the states to NZ and the baggage limits are 2 bags up to 50 lbs with a total of 62" of total length. An extra bagg will cost you up to 200$nz. Dang they are really hammering you on the baggage.
