I'd hunted several fallow deers with my 6.5x57R and also with a 6 mm. Remington with excellents results. Now I use to stalk red deers with a 7 mm. Remington Magnum and no one needed more than one shot

I don't know exactly how big is a Sambar but I think isn't bigger than our deers.
