Agree that this phd was a waste of resources, money and time. And yes there does seem to be a greeny non killing drive behind a lot of studies these days. A simple trial by a company who wanted to sell the product would have been fine.
Shooting is a great and effective method, especially when the roos get used. It just cant be used all the time.
Examples are town areas, footy fields etc.
One method is rarely suitable for all occasions.
Its a valid idea, not that it deserves the attention, money and hopes that this study seems to have attached.
