I trust fellow posters here would be interested in viewing the results of a successful hunt last weekend, south of the Roper. Unfortunately the buff were off-limits, however a number of feral hogs and donkeys bit the dust, along with two feral cats. The highlight of the trip, and the reason for my post, was a tusky old boar bagged by my hunting mate Marty on the second day. It rates as one of the best I've seen taken in the Territory, probably the best, and a personal milestone for Marty in terms of trophy quality. Check out these choppers! The old campaigner had a head like something out of the Van Helsing props department! The tusks have been boiled-out and by now Marty should have the measurements to add, hopefully they were long in the jaw for a high Douglas score. I suspect we'll walk many a mile of river-bank before topping that set of trophy tusks. Won't stop us from trying, though... Congratulations, mate! |
