Luckily the ants don't always turn up: in this case my tardiness was to blame!

They do have their uses:

Meat-Ants doing a fine job of cleaning up a head.

Unfortunately ticks are a common occurrence east of the main range, and this fellow had quite a few.
Our 'Cattle Ticks' don't seem to like humans much, although some people are susceptible.
I've never had one latch on. ...thankfully!

Just looked up meat ants on antwiki where they are described as "extremely pugnacious"!
