Diver missing, croc nearby

A LARGE crocodile was spotted close to where a diver went missing in the Northern Territory earlier today, police said.

Authorities were searching for the diver in the Cobourg Peninsula area after he was reported missing.
A police spokesman said the man did not surface from a routine dive about 11.30am CST.

Another diver reported seeing a large crocodile nearby, he said.

No other details were available.

The incident comes just days after a British snorkeller was killed by a 4m crocodile while swimming off Groote Eylandt in the NT.
