I just got back from a hunt with SilverCo Safaris at Silver Plains in Cape York. I didnt get a huge amount of pigs as I was letting some others get a few as well. The pigs we did get were all of pretty decent size but had some realy good ivory. Some of the pigs the other blokes got were heavy hogs. When not hunting, we went by chopper to chase crabs on the beach and then used a chopper to get to a more remote area for pigs and the scrub bull pictured. The scrub bull doesnt have huge horns but we watched it fighting another bull for quite a while. It looked pretty mean while it was tustling with the other bull ,so I decided to drop it with a neck/shoulder shot from the 458 Lott once it saw us and took off. It dropped like a stone. Most of the pigs I got with a 300 weatherby and one with a 458 Lott. When I go back next time ,I will concentrate mainly on scrub bulls and leave the pigs for the others. These are some of the tusks we took as well as the scrub bull horns ,being prepared by one of the guides for SilverCo Safaris |
