Appreciate your comments all. Hope those of you in red deer country waiting for the cooler weather are getting amongst it by now. Researching a bit of background on red deer introductions in Queensland I found that the original animals were documented as a gift from Queen Victoria to provide "… additional food and sport" for the people of the state. The commemorative bronze plaque on the monument erected in Toogoolawah, only 8km SW of the original release site, is inscribed: "To The People of Queensland For Their Recreational Use." Happy to comply! |
