John: The species in the Guardian article is Little Penguin (Eudyptula minor), often called Fairy Penguins in Australia. Their IUCN status is "least concern". Even so, losing 3000 breeding pairs is perhaps 1.5% of their total population. In two minds about the long-term value of feeding them to a bunch of "feral" Tassie Devils! |
