I think a monster like that would stick out of the water a bit in the knee deep water we washed up in. 
I think JB told me this year Clayton told him he would not swim in those waters! I think it was a joke.  Clayton told me, very unlikely.
Plus remember further along the same creek where it formed some bigger pools, the station owners had a swimming and boating spot if you remember. We should have camped there.
