Well done on the pork and beef hunt.

I am a big fan of the 338/06, mine is an Ackley Improved version that I hunted with for over 35 years. Built it myself as one of my project rifles at Gunsmithing school.

I prefer the Sierra Game King 250 grain bullets. I started with that bullet back in 1984 because if the Woodleigh was even available the Sierra's were cheaper and would have fit a student budget better. At school it shot 1 inch groups and 3000 fps.

I have taken javelina, feral hogs, coyote, deer (lots of Deer), elk and one moose with my rifle. Moose with 338/06 AI This cartridge is one that is well over looked and should be in every gunmakers inventory or every hunters gun rack.
