The .318 WR (.330) was the forerunner of the .338 Win Mag, .338/06 etc. It was consider a great buffalo slayer in its day with the 250 gr bullet and before later a minimum of .375 was introduced in the client safaru age. WDM Bell killed a lot of elephant with the .318 WR with the 250 gr FMJ. In his earlier books he writes of the .275 Rigby. In later writings he usually refers to the .318 WR as being hsi choice for the "big rifle". Anoter writer, was it Berger (?), mentions his battery was a .318 WR bolt rifle and a .450 NE double.
