I have always admired the 318 and the 333 Jeff, but in the SA brass for both is quite expensive and so are bullets. So here the common alternative is to convert military Mausers (and several other actions too) to the 338/06. I have made many of them. In also have owned a few myself. The last one I had I traded to a man who has been using it since then, and last I heard he liked it very much. The benefits of a tough 33 cal 250 grain bullet going between 2200 to 2600 FPS is undeniable and the recipe works very well on all game up to about 1800 pounds. In fact there are reports of it doing satisfactory work on game even larger. It's a great way to go for a working gun. Thanks so much for posting. |
