Just had a busy day putting on an arms collectors display at Adelaide River township, the site of our war cemetary and cenataph about an hour south of Darwin. We had around 60 military firearms on public display, including a Colt 1911 .45 that was a battlefield pickup at Kapyong, by one of our club members! He took it off a dead Chinese soldier at the time... Don Davie was a corporal in Korea, a close friend and good mate, now passed on to his reward. He is greatly missed, especially on this day when we often had breakfast together at the RSL following the dawn service. Farewell old mate. Lest we forget. O&BTW, Don was a serious Collingwood fan, so he'll have a big smile on his dial after yesterday's result! |
