Actually wasn't as bad as I thought. I pulled the stag oot down hill so its weight came in handy. Also cut off some of the blackberry canes off first. And untwisted others. I guessed then a good hard tug and pull would get him sliding out. And it did. Must be the experience of pruning too many ffffing grapevines ...
