June 2015 16:48 Only recently I had the opportunity to hunt for the rare Banteng bull which was undertaken within the remote Aboriginal Reserve of Arnhemland in the Northern Territory of Australia with Aus Buffalo hunters owner Graham Williams. The access to the hunting area was by vehicle with a light camp set on arrival. All the hunting was undertaken on foot directly from this classic styled light camp with many Banteng and wild Boar sighted within a reasonable distance from camp. The Bull that I decided to take was a good representative and I was quite happy in taking him after an enjoyable stalk and some quick shooting with my open sighted 458Mag. WOODLEIGH 458WIN 480grn round nose soft bullets were used with great results during this hunt. r We had some time to also hunt wild Boar and then prepare camp for Thomas a Danish hunter. He had good luck with some good size Boar with a Bow but preferred to use my 458 for his Banteng. Whilst the hunting camp is quite basic it dose have all that is required but is not over done like some camps of today, after all is a hunters camp and not a resort. Once the hunt was complete we Travelled back to Darwin where we spent a morning catching Queenfish and then picked up Miranda for our tour of the top end which included Kakadu National Park, Douglas Hot Springs and Litchfield National Park.
