In Ontario, Canada as I became a licensed hunter of small game age 15, the game branch of that Province actually made laws to protect wildlife from domestic carnivores. I think I can remember the exact words; "It is the duty of every licensed hunter, to eradicate any domestic carnivore found more than 500yards from any out-buildings." My hunting buddy Warren, a young farmer, used to keep the cat population on his farm at 17 cats. 1 more and the lot of them would start hunting the fields and surrounding bush for game. He's simply shoot and 'extra' cats and at a 17 count, they'd stay at home. He fed them calf "milk-replacer", and every one of them showed up for the evening 'drink' out of a huge circular barrel lid he used as their dish. |
