From the Shooters & Fishers Party page: The antis are drumming up fear of a "US style gun culture" ... again. "A powerful lobby group of hunters"? That would be the South Coast Hunters Club (imagine calling the local lawn bowls club a powerful lobby group of bowlers?!). The suppo...See more A MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF CONSPIRATOR OF THE ANTI-HUNTFEST PUSH.... “As you are probably aware, late last year the South Coast Hunters Club applied to the ESC Council for a licence to hold a Huntfest in Narooma on the June long weekend for this and the next four years. The licence was granted on the understanding that there would be no displays of guns or ammunition. Huntfest organisers have now written to the Eurobodalla Shire Council seeking permission to have guns on display at their 2014 event in the Narooma Sports and Leisure Centre. Council is rushing to consider this largely unpublicised request at its meeting on 10 December 2013, in order to meet an unreasonably tight decision deadline set by Huntfest organisers. A powerful lobby group of hunters, many of whom do not even live in the area, is flooding the councillors with emails supporting their case. I and many other residents of the Shire objected to the holding of any Huntfest in our town and are particularly appalled by this new application which, if approved by Council, will, we believe, take us closer to the gun culture of the US. If you share this concern, please join others protesting this expansion of Huntfest by emailing councillors (see attached flyer), before the 10 December meeting and/or attending the Council meeting in Moruya on 10 December at 6 pm to voice a direct protest. (Phone Carol Hodges (0244741000) for the time and protocol if you wish to make a 5 minute speech). It doesn’t have to be a long e-mail; just one that makes your opposition to any displays or promotion of firearms in our town clear and unequivocal.” Kind regards, Susan" Will we allow the Greens/Antis to manipulate the public, by promoting cultural hatred? |
