Mark: We've been getting regular heavy storms in Darwin but they appear to be restricted to the very top corner of the Territory. Went for a walk on Sunday arvo just an hour or so out of town by road, dry as a bone. Not a drop of rain had fallen there since the last 'wet', and unfortunately we saw nothing worthy of warming a barrel. Also, the floodplain north of Harrison Dam, a favourite goose-hunting haunt, was still bone dry when I was last there a week ago. The dam itself had almost dried up! Very patchy at this time of year. Unfortunately the heat and humidity is ubiquitous however! |
