Re: Return to Camp Camel

There are four commercial Abattoirs that process Camel Meat in Australia. Choice cuts go to South East Asia and the rest goes to pet mince. The feral dog baits is a local operation run by one of the local shire councils.

It is very rare for pastoralists to be fined however it can happen if they don't do somthing about an infestation.

The area I live in Australia, had a thriving market for wild boar meat. Shooters and doggers would bring prepared carcasses into a central 'chiller' for sale. This meat was then prepared and shipped mainly to europe for human consumption. I don't know how the rest of the country is going, however all the local chillers have closed to wild boar meat as it is cheaper to ship it from the US to Europe. At least that is the story being told to the chiller owners.
