They are an introduced feral pest. Foreign to Australian. They compete with native fauna and domestic stock for natural resources and are very destructive of infrastructure.

Commercial operators herd them with helicopters and use the meat for wild dog baits in the area I shoot them. If they get too numerous on private land the owner can be fined for letting them get out of control, just as he can for having excessive feral pigs and goats.

Shooting them saves the pastoralist time and money and is more selective than poisoning.
