Driving back home after a short pig hunt my wife spotted some goats I hadn't seen before. They were about 500 yards away so I parked the vehicle and started walking towards them with the intent of head shooting a couple of little ones for meat. I got the wind right and followed them into the Mulga regrowth and started to look for an "eater" when I saw a big black billy making his way through the mob. ![]() I stalked in close with my best camo on........... ![]() Couple of the nanny's smelt me but couldn't see me and started sneezing at me in warning to the others. The black billy wasted no time (how they get big I guess) and bolted. I gave him a bit of lead at around 40 yards and hit him with a 250 grain RN Woodleigh out of my Husky 9.3x57. ![]() He measured 43.5" ![]() ![]() Here he is with my priviest best goat of 42.5". ![]() What a great weekend (turned over 1001 pigs for 2013) and I'm glad my wife was with me to celebrate my trophy goat. |
