Rabbit plague!

We have had a lot of rain recently and some good heavy down pours. This has left many fields and hillsides covered in green grass right into January when 19 years out of 20 they are brown and dry. The vineyards are very weedy providing lots of cover too.

The result:

A plague of bunnies.

Counted thirty two evenings ago in 5 minutes when opening and closing irrigation taps. The dog was going crazy as I wouldn't let him out to chase them. He is a pointer but due to neglect has learned he can run them down.

Counted twenty last night and only shot two of them in the middle of the day while working. Stupidly shot all of my .22 magnum rounds off at galahs feeding in a hay paddock off fallen grains meant for the sheep. That was about fourty rounds too. May have some more lying around. .22 rimfire ammo, where did I leave that. Got hundreds of 12 gauge shells but I don't like eating pre-peppered bunnies. Dogbert does however.

A day of shooting and a night spotlighing is called for.
