The standard Ackley IMP case has a .454" shoulder and .469" base for .0075" taper per side.

When developing loads, I find the Improved cases difficult to 'read' as the pressure climbs, so I only use my little finger for extraction. Still, even with that, I usually find myself backing off before any of them have ever become sticky, just because I figure this case shouldn't be putting out these velocities with these bullet weights. The improved cases can be puzzling - but are amazing.




Here is an 8x57 case necked up to 9.5 (.375") on the left and a fired case on the right.

I'm only looking for about 2150 fps with the 270 grain RN and 45 grains of 2206H should do that for me.They will be "the ducks guts" on big pigs.

Neale runs 250 grain RN in his 9.3x57 at 2200 fps and it works a treat.
