We are all tempted whenever we see any sambar I imagine and the hind I was photographing the other day offered me every shot there is in the book and I was very stable laying on my platform of rock below me. A head shot with nil meat damage etc etc, declined however in favour of her calf,1/3 the weight and easier to get out. However in hindsight with the hands out clamouring for venison perhaps i should have. This stag? Years ago no hesitation BANG! Now I hopefully get to pre shot review them and he doesn't make the grade John. The pic of the pair together with his antlers screened?Well if I knew there was a real biggy in there I may just pull on him and review after he`s on the ground however I knew he wasnt the one. He stay`s in the keepers box as one for someone else. In conjunction with other donor`s I actually donated a week`s Sambar hunt with me. It was on an Euro Forum last year as part of a fund raiser for a kids hospital and a Pom bid up big and won it. We have communicated since then and he only recently advised he couldn't get here this year. My donation was for year 2012 only however i told him "make it 2013" hence a stag like that if he is still in the area is quite a possible prize for a Pom coming out of the UK after having only hunted Roe Deer. Plus a year later he will be better in size and I stress if he`s still around as that place gets FUGGIN spotlighters in it. |
