Very unusual John, unless in a water catchment area where there is nil hunting.Nine sambar showed up on one of these evenings above but i could only get six in pic at a time. They mill around on the edge of cover seemingly reluctant to move then one makes the break = coast is clear and the rest come out with their heads down feeding like cattle coming into a new paddock as seen above. These deer are a long way from any of those areas though and are as wild as all sambar can be and its a real PITA to climb into where they are and they only show out of the impenetrable cover at the right time and only with the right weather. I have climbed into the same spot a 100 times ( or more) only to see SFA on many occasions. The knees are always knocking by the time I get to the bottom of the hill as it is a steep bastard alright. The stag feeding in the early morn pic is a pretty fair sort of animal,he is a candidate so far until I get a good look at him.I have only seen him the once though. Thanks AB,comments as yours are always well received as its no easy job much of the time. |
