Walked the high ground around the edge of the floodplain , early this morning. Chris took the first young boar sighted at around 30m with his 243. A young boar. Did a few more km and I dropped a good boar on the run after missing with the first shot. Used my 358 and 200 grain hornady spire points. Recovered the projectile in the off side shoulder. The fighting pad was very thick and went a long way down the back of the boar. Did another couple of km's and bumped a small group of pigs in some gamba grass and one showed it self long enough for a quick shot with the 358. Dropped on the spot from about 7m. Got bitten by something on my back and it was causing me some grief, when I walked into a paper wasp nest and got stung twice for not noticing them. Chris was laughing. Didnt have long to wait for my turn Chris missed the next pig we saw. Didnt see any buff , but there was plenty of sign around. Its still very wet and the grass is very high and thick. Still a good mornings hunt. Heres some pics Mick. Chris 243 federal factory 100 grain 358 fighting pad and projectile Buff prints |
