The disease works apparently by skipping generations through resistance. One generation is resistant and then there offspring are not due to slight mutations of the virus.

Pretty sure that is how it works.

I have been dissappointed many times in the past 15 years, see a population in an area slowly build and then be wiped-out virtually overnight.
