Whenever there has been rain ( a lot in the last 3 months) I like to drive around and have a look at the pig tracks to see how many pigs there are about, the size of the pigs and where they are coming from. I had to watch the wind this morning while two planes sprayed the cotton for grubs. Took this opportunity to have a look at our block close to town (about 3kms). Saw there had been a couple of pigs about with one bigger fella on his own. I had planned on taking the dogs out early in the morning before work to look for him. Right on dark I went for a drive around the same stubble paddock before the storm hit. By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 Spotted him a long way out so continued to drive around to get down wind of him and stalk in. Grabbed my 458 from behind the seat (never go anywhere without a rifle), a hand full of bullets and started the 7 or 800 yard stalk. Sorry about the photo's but they were with my phone. I took one last photo with my phone and put it in my pocket. By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 I flicked the safety off on the Brno and drilled him with a 400 grain Woodliegh PP. By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 He was really old and slightly poor in condition but that is normal for pigs on the red country here. No wonder he was poor,he has been eating sticks !. By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 I'm glad I got him this afternoon as I can sleep in tomorrow. |
