Whenever there has been rain ( a lot in the last 3 months) I like to drive around and have a look at the pig tracks to see how many pigs there are about, the size of the pigs and where they are coming from. ![]() I had to watch the wind this morning while two planes sprayed the cotton for grubs. Took this opportunity to have a look at our block close to town (about 3kms). Saw there had been a couple of pigs about with one bigger fella on his own. I had planned on taking the dogs out early in the morning before work to look for him. Right on dark I went for a drive around the same stubble paddock before the storm hit. ![]() By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 Spotted him a long way out so continued to drive around to get down wind of him and stalk in. Grabbed my 458 from behind the seat (never go anywhere without a rifle), a hand full of bullets and started the 7 or 800 yard stalk. Sorry about the photo's but they were with my phone. ![]() ![]() By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 ![]() By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 Got to within 30 yards of him before he knew I was there. The stubble was crunchy under foot so it was hard to be quiet. I took one last photo with my phone and put it in my pocket. ![]() By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 I flicked the safety off on the Brno and drilled him with a 400 grain Woodliegh PP. ![]() By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 He was really old and slightly poor in condition but that is normal for pigs on the red country here. No wonder he was poor,he has been eating sticks !. ![]() ![]() By fatboy404 at 2012-01-30 I'm glad I got him this afternoon as I can sleep in tomorrow. ![]() |
