Re: Saltwater crocodile attack in FNQ

When sleeping under the stars while hunting with Bakes a week or so ago all three of us certainly slept with a rifle within reach (not just from crocodiles though). It didn't help that we had crocodile eyes only 8 metres away from our camp in a stream, even though they were almost certainly only a fresh water crocodile. A major river was only maybe 500 metres away and you never know what is moving around.

I am amazed that this crocodile attempted to take the man in a tent 50 metres away from the shore!

Some comfort can be taken that when I examined some statistics at "Crocodylus Park" in Darwin that almost no recent deaths occurred from shore attacks with the likelihood of a killing occurring most from people swimming or wading in water.

I think the bloke did a great job using his rifle to assist the victims.
