Neale,

How do you work your dog on the pigs?

Is he used to track them down and discover them? Or drive them out of cover? Or only after you have spotted the pigs is he let off the quad bike?

Never worked with pigs dogs before. And never pig sticking for example. We always did our own human pig dogging ...

I'm guessing the dogs add to your success by a multiple.

Being so wet we just rode around on my bike.
I just ride slowly through the timber and Duke smells them off the bike, jumps and goes and catches one. The pigs here are normally in mobs and run so I fly out of the Timber and look for the mob then cut loose.
I then find Duke and stick his pig for him. If he catches a really big boar I will go straight to him rather than chasing the mob.
When on the bike I use him for his nose, to find the ones that don't run.
If using him when on foot he just hunts about 30-50 yards out in front of me.
This is a good way to get some numbers and have fun as all the pigs want to do is get away from the dog at all costs. Normally they are running all around you and at you.
He now has caught 233 pigs at 2 years of age. A dog is less important with a bike but I love my dogs and will never leave them at home.
