That's a great, even if by chance, culmination to a hunt. It sounds as if you hunted hard for a couple of days and then finally got a chance at a fantastic representative of a red stag, and successfully took that chance. Can't ask for more IMO. I bet that rich red sucker ponged. Hopefully one day you will face another like that at 10 yards in the thick bush during the 'roar' with it's wild eyes and adrenalin rush, something that really stands the hair on your neck up and makes you wish you had a 404 in your hands.
