The Winchester is the flavour of the Month, so took it out after a boar yesterday. found a young boar amongst a mob of buff in some thick channel country. The buff disturbed the boar and I dropped him easily, at around 30m. Storm was trying to get a shot at the stragglers with the 223 but couldnt get a clear shot. We travelled on seeing a few dingoes and eventualy found a boar that walked onto us. Storm missed a sitter shot at around 30m and the boar escaped into the thick gamba grass. Continued on and found a mob in a patch of hymenacni, but couldnt get a shot , as it was getting dark we turned around and headed back. We bumped into the same boar that Storm missed and she tried to get a shot at him and eventualy did and missed him in the thick mimosa. The boar took off and stayed just inside the mimosa and followed it. I took off after him and tried to get in front of him for a shot. Eventual got in front of the boar and waited for him to come into view. He appeared and I swung the 458 onto him and led thru and let go as he hit a thick patch. The 500 grain woodleigh smashed him exiting thru his offside shoulder. The shot was at around 60m and I was wrapped . A good afternoon hunt. Heres some pics Mick ![]() ![]() ![]() |
