Very good question... depends a bit on the type and quality of the cattle that the station is running but..as a rule....

- You get an idea of the kind of places where you are more likely to see wild ones, by experience and by talking to the staff
- the wild ones will most often have a very different look to the domestic ones. Most places in the tropics will be trying to run as much braham blood into their domestic cattel, whereas the wild ones will be Bos taurus origin or hybrid.
- domestic stock will not have horns as a rule but you have to be careful with that
- double check that the animals dont have brands, tags and earmarks.
