Re: The Chamois thread

A few scanned oldies for interest.

Myself in the Southern Alps, with a 14 year old chamois buck with horns worn down to stubs, still able to count 11 growth rings with first 3 years growth (all of the hook and much of the shank in a chamois head) worn away.

Nice younger buck shot just after scoring the 14 year old.

German friend with his first chamois shot in NZ.

Selection of chamois heads, a tahr and a red taken on one trip into the Southern Alps of NZ.

Disaster taking another German hunter out (he's on the right in the photo), came over ridge, him in front by a fraction and then all hell broke loose as he started shooting a mob of young chamois. I had to shoot the last wounded one at 200m. Then he decided to clean the Kahles scope on his borrowed rifle with sand in the lens, ruining it. We did pack out all the meat, was good eating.

All hunting in New Zealand, not paid guiding for the Germans, just taking out hunting as friends.
