Re: Banteng & Scrub Bulls Thread

Were these bulls introduced with the settlers? I am curious, is there a designated season to hunt them and do you have to purchase a special license or permit? Christopher

Sorry Chris,

Are you talking about the scrub bulls or the banteng.

The scrub bulls are generally cattle that escape the yearly muster and could be a few years in the wild or indeed mixed blood from the line the cattle rancher wants and doesn't want...

The banteng were brought over years ago (early 1900's I think) and run wild on the Coburg Peninsular of Arhnem Land.

There is no season apart from it's difficult to hunt the Coburg from December to May. Banteng need to be hunted with a licenced outfitter and they are few and far between.

Cheers,
Mark.
