I think the one's in the UK are alot more edible than the one's here as your water is a lot cleaner / clearer.

Over here, they stir up the mud on the bottom and
make rivers all muddy. As a result, they can tastes like Mud.

I have eaten them and would do in a Survival situation but we have some much better fish to eat !!!
